Ron Coomer and his wife Paula own and operate Coom's Corner along with several long-time friends from Lockport, where Ron when to high school.
Ron is currently part of the broadcast team at 670 The Score for Chicago Cubs games with his partner Pat Hughes. Ron played in MLB for nine years, including the 2001 season with the Cubs, when he hit .261/.316/.390 with eight home runs. He's also played for the Yankees, Dodgers, and Twins. Ron spent five seasons with the Twins and made the All-Star team in 1999.

Go, Cubs fans, go, to Lockport where a former Cubs infielder has opened a restaurant.
Ron Coomer, a former MLB All-Star and the analyst for Chicago Cubs radio on WSCR-AM 670 since 2014, recently marked a new sort of opening day with Coom’s Corner Sports Grill in Lockport.
"[Ron] and his partners also got their restaurant in Lockport up and running this week. Coom’s Corner Sports Grill is located in the building of the former Iron Horse Saloon (1225 E. Ninth St., just west of Interstate 355)." (3/28/18)
